The lies of fan-made photos: Social media's virulent tendencies

Fake pics are rampant like an insidious virus online. As "fans" get better at it, the vocal and ignorant  start arguing over what's real and not and the truth somehow get buried in a preposterous whirlwind of odious opinion-based (not fact based) lies.  Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla did a fab shoot in the early oughts, promoting one of their films. Aishwarya Rai and Shahrukh Khan were exceedingly popular back in 2001 but there were only a limited number of images of the two together - so what did the fans do? Placed Aishwarya Rai's face on top of Juhi Chawla's, photoshopped the heck out of it - and the "fake" image went viral. Fast forward 20+ years, new gen can't tell which is real and which is fake - as they weren't born when the original pic was published.

Juhi Chawla's quote that cost her films opposite Salman Khan

 

This quote from Juhi Chawla - said in jest - cost her many films opposite sensitive and touchy Salman Khan, who did not appreciate the humour. Khan went on to refuse any film opposite Juhi Chawla for a decade. And even then, his brief cameo in Deewana Mastana was more for David Dhawan than Juhi - who famously said in Koffee iwth Karan that Salman Khan has never spoken to her in her life! 

Needs to be noted however that no films with Salman Khan didn't cost her anything really - she had a terrific run in Bollywood and remains one of the wealthiest women in Bollywood. 

No harm, no foul!

A moment of appreciation for the classic Indian beauty that is Juhi Chawla. Known for her comedy, her good looks were overshadowed by her zany performances. Like Lucille Ball, who was a great beauty, but people only remember her for her comedy. Same with Juhi - one just remembers her oh-so-cute performances and her wow looks gets swept under the rug.  

In the otherwise awful film like Ram Jaane - with Shahrukh Khan's most hyper overacting - Juhi was a breath of fresh air. She looked incredible, danced well - and was so so so lovely in the song Na re baba kaanta chubh...

This image, well, part of this image went viral in the early 2000s - except without Juhi Chawla. 

Some clever clog replaced the face of Juhi with Aishwarya Rai and somehow, that awful fake pic went viral. 

But I remember the image from a Cine Blitz cover shoot and thought well...why? 

Lovely Juhi, also a Miss India like Ash... deserves her flowers. And fame. And wow vast fortune!
